The Scotsman, Monday 13th November 1933

    STRATHPEFFER WAR MEMORIAL

Strathpeffer war memorial was unveiled on Saturday, 15 years after the armistice, but is one of the most distinctive in the Highlands. The memorial takes the form of gates at the entrance to the local cemetery. The architect is Marshall Mackenzie of Aberdeen, who built Marischall College, Aberdeen, and Australia House, London. The names of the fallen are commemorated on bronze tablets on either side of the archway.

The "old comrades," Messrs David Mackintosh and Donald Mackenzie, opened the gates, and the memorial tablets were unveiled by Mr Donald Macrae, who lost a son in the war, and Mr Alexander Macleod whose two sons made the supreme sacrifice. There was a large public attendance of ex-Service man and the general public.

The Scotsman, Monday 5th June 1950

    STRATHPEFFER MEMORIAL

Strathpeffer War Memorial was unveiled yesterday by Mrs Neil Macdonald, whose brother Private Donald Mackay was killed with the Seaforths in the fighting before St Valery, and whose husband, Major Neil Macdonald died as a result of war service. Lord Tarbat of Castle Leod, who was a major in the Seaforths and was taken prisoner at St Valery, paid tribute at the unveiling to the local men under his command who lost their lives in the war. The memorial was dedicated by the Rev. Walter M. Reid, Strathpeffer.

The inscription on the archway reads, "Highland memory is long for Highland love is strong"
