This Roll of Honour is a bit of a mystery. It has no details apart from the regimental number, names and regiments.

It is in the possession of Carluke Historical Society, and is not on display although it can be viewed upon request. My thanks to them for allowing these pictures. They were unable to give any information as to the source of this Roll.

The markings next to some names are as follows:

Cross: Killed
X: wounded
*: Gained Military Medal

(This is explained at the bottom of the Roll but I didn't take a closeup of that)

The name at the bottom of the Killin Roll says it was printed by Gilmour & Dean Ltd Glasgow which may have been the names, not the printed frame.

It looks like they still exist (but recently taken over by an Italian company) and they mainly print whisky labels now. I wonder if they have an archive?

The 11th name - 6892? MARY FRAME - followed by a series of initials.
Why a service number? Any ideas on her unit?

Looks like G.F.S.O.F. to me. No idea what they could be though.

Derek.

It looks like G.F, S.O.F. If that makes any difference.

Just an idea, but I think that Mary Frame was a F.A.N.Y (First Aid Nursing Yeomanry....... but I've not been able to track the initials on the Scroll as yet..

This may be her given the name and number. It looks like she may have been in the WRAF although I can't make out much from the information provided.
