The Embo War Memorial was unveiled in recent years. I think it was unveiled on VJ- Day 1984. Before that the main parish memorial in Dornoch was the village's war memorial.
The Great War list was taken from the names on the Dornoch Free Church memorial which identifies the fallen by district. The Second World War names were collected by asking the older folk in the village.
Unusually for a Scottish memorial the honour guard was provided by the United States Navy. In this case a detachment from the now closed USN Communications base at Forss, near Thurso.
This photo of the day of the unveiling was provided to me a few years ago byJeanette Cumming who was on the Village Hall committee in 2002.
