This WM commemorates the men of the Kilmun half of Dunoon and Kilmun parish. The villages/districts are Kilmun, Strone, Blaimore and Benmore. Ardentinny, also in the parish but a few miles north, has it's own WM.

I have a photo to be scanned showing 2 of the three panels. I found out later that my dictaphone had run out of tape so have lost what was on the 3rd side.

Memorial lists Pte. James Darroch A. & S.H. Surely some mistake? James Darroch served with the Gordons.
Pte. 1811 John Darroch served A. & S.H. Born Cairnbann, Argyll, Died of wounds 1st. August, 1916. His parents came from Lochgilphead (Son of John and Mary McKinnon Darroch, of 8, Cairncaan Cottages, Lochgilphead, Argyll).


The Glasgow Herald, Monday, 30th. April, 1917. "Deaths on Service. DARROCH.- On 25th. inst., at Canadian Hospital, Pte. James Darroch, Gordon Highlanders, fourth son of John Darroch, retired officer of H.M. Customs, Oaklee, Kilmun."
