The architect for the memorial was Reginald Fairlie who also drafted the monument at Blairgowrie.

Mr and Mrs R. Crichton, East Myreriggs, Coupar Angus, have received intimation that their son, Lance-Corpl. James Crichton, of the 11th Manchester Regiment, had succumbed to wounds on the 23rd November.
This soldier served his apprenticeship as a grocer in Strathmore Supply Stores, Coupar Angus, and enlisted in the A.S.C., at the outbreak of war. He had seen service in Salonika, where he was wounded. Drafted to another front about three months ago, he met his end as stated.

He was a native of Coupar Angus, and emigrated with his parents to New Zealand about seven years ago. He had been three years in the Army.
He was a nephew of Mr W. Forsyth, Larchbank, Rattray, and was aged 23.

Pvt. David Paton, Royal Scots Transport (son of Mr John Paton, Islabank), who came home from Canada to enlist, has been killed.
It is eighteen months since he was home. He was formerly a fireman on the Caledonian Railway between Crieff (where he resided), Perth and Stirling. His widow and three children reside at 15 Downfield Place, Edinburgh.
His brother, Pvt. AC Paton, Canadians, is at the Front, having enlisted about two years ago.
A step-brother, Pvt. John Cownie, R.E., is also serving his King and country. He served his apprenticeship in Coupar Angus Post Office, and was for a long period, before enlisting, engaged in Dundee Post Office.
* John Cownie was KIA 21.03.18 and is commemorated on the Coupar Angus Public School Memorial.

Fred Pattison, Canadian Camerons, son of Mr James Pattison, Bendochy, Coupar Angus, has died as a result of wounds received at the Front.
Deceased was a native of Forfarshire, and was employed as a ploughman in Arbroath district whence he went to Canada about four years ago. He enlisted at the outbreak of the war and came to this country in June 1915. In March he went to the Front and until now had passed through the various engagements unscathed. He was 28 years of age and unmarried.

Private Don Stewart, Scots Guards (son of Mr and Mrs Stewart, St. Fink), died of wounds on 31st July.
Deceased, who was 21 years of age, was employed in the Royal Bank, Blairgowrie, and enlisted on his 19th birthday. He has been at the Front since a year past in the beginning of January.
A big stalwart of a man, he was the beau ideal of a Guard and was possessed of a kindly sunny nature and was a great favourite with a wide circle of friends.
* A fine picture of Donald Stewart is held by a relative down south. However attempts to obtain a copy of said picture have proved fruitless.
