William was the Grandson of William McCaw 1818-1902 and Isabella Todd 1827-1911 and had 13 children, 3 died as infants; stayed in Tynron Glen, Dumfriesshire and in 1880 William and Isabella moved to New Zealand with 9 of their children. Daughter Marion stays in Glencairn, as married William Brown, parents of William McCaw Brown.
In Tynron Churchyard have gravestone which records William McCaw and Isabella Todd and their 8 grandsons who died in Great War - 7 who were born in New Zealand and William McCaw Brown born in Glencairn.
William McCaw Brown also remembered on parents family stone in Glencain Churchyard.
Wallacton Memorial Hall - built in 1921 to remember all died in Great War has Plaque with names as per two church and Glencairn Memorial - just order different.
