UKNIWM Ref: 44327

Location inside St Ninian’s Parish Church at OS Map Ref NX 77789 90979.

Notice the care with which this memorial has been placed in its surroundings. The mechanism for opening a window necessarily sits in front of the memorial but has been skilfully painted to blend in.

As far as I have checked, the names are exactly the same as those on the civic memorial in the Moniave Institute although in a different order.

This plaque arrived in this church during the 1920-1930's; it was moved from The United Free Church, in Dunreggan after it was closed; today this Free Church is ruin and found on left hand side road just before entering the village.
The plaque was unveiled in May 1920 and is copy of plaque in the Glencairn Parish Church at Kirkland; only different is the Parish Church memorial enclosed in a polished alabaster frame. Both plaques unveiled on same day with one service in morning and the other in evening.
The plaques made by Messrs Stewart, McGlasher & Son Ltd Edinburgh.
The 72 men and 1 woman are same on both plaques, appear in rank order; and the Rolls in Glencairn Institute have same names but they appear in alphabetical order.
Teddy.
