Does anyone know where the Great War Memorial which used to be in the Gaelic School in Woodlands Road in Glasgow has been moved to as it seems to have disappeared and no one at the school seems to know where it has been taken to...it was about twenty feet long and 12 feet high and made of solid white marble and bronze and not the sort of thing that you would throw on the back of a van.
Any info would be appreciated

It seems it has just vanished into thin air and no one at the school or Glasgow City Council knows what happened to it even the site agent who was on the renovation of the job doesn't even remember seeing it. I reckon this should be taken further what do you think folks. |

I agree it should be looked into.
On a related note, I would not rely on Glasgow Council knowing anything about War Memorials. Their definition of what constitutes a memorial is...flexible to say the least. To them the statue of Wellington (you know, the one that always has a traffic cone on its head) is a memorial to the Battle of Waterloo.....
Their list of memorials in the city is also riddled with basic spelling errors. |

I managed to get up to Hillhead Secondary School and took a photo of the Memorial. Alas my flash gun was acting up so it isn't the greatest photo I have ever taken.
There is also a Great War Memorial for Woodside Secondary School which could do with a bit of attention as some well meaning cleaner has used the wrong cleanser and has made it difficult to read in parts.
There is also a couple of Second World War Memorials but I couldn't get a decent photo of them because of the reflection off the Memorials. 'll try again during the school holidays. |
