Not listed on UKNIWM

The memorial is inside the village hall at OS Map Ref: NX 993 803

One of the locals told me that the existance of this memorial seems to be unknown, not only by the UKNIWM but also by the British Legion, however a few locals hold a service here every November. Not much info for researchers unfortunately.

Many thanks for that Derek.
I had missed that he was on the Hawick Roll.
I have copied your note up onto Gray's entry above and will copy it over onto the Gala and Hawick threads.

Looking at this again, the penny has just dropped that the WW2 casualty must have been a relative of Robert (or Robert's wife?) - Jessie Mary (McCartney) Gray of Douglas Bank and of Jericho Cottage, Locharbriggs

William Gray – age 22 – Able Seaman (P/SSX 21187) H.M.S. Manistee Royal Navy.
Foster-son of Mary McCartney of Jericho Cottage, Locharbriggs
