Corporal, S/6716, Hugh Rennie, 1st Seaforth Highlanders
Fourth son of Thomas and Jessie Rennie, Ken Ervie, Parton. Employed as a clerk at Newton Stewart railway station.
Enlisted 1st January 1915 in 10th Seaforth Highlanders and transferred to 1st Battalion. Wounded twice in Mesopotamia (Sheik Saad and Sanna-i-yatt). Mentioned in Despatches by Sir Stanley Maud. Cause of death, gun shot wounds to the face. _________________ www.sonsofgalloway.org.uk

Hugh Rennie – age 19 – Corporal (S/6716) 1st Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders.
Hugh was a clerk at Newton Stewart Railway Station when enlisted in January 1915 and joined his battalion in France in October 1915. In December they moved to Mesopotamia, landing at Basra late in the month. Hugh was wounded twice and was Mentioned in Dispatches. He died in the 31st Stationary Hospital at Shicksand from wounds received on 22 February 1917.
Born 1897 in Auchencairn, Rerrick Parish, Kirkcudbrightshire. Son of Thomas and Jessie E. (Black) Rennie of Ken Ervie, Parton and of Diamonds Laggan, Parton.
