I was going to put up an online map reference for this memorial, but every search sends me in the direction of North Ayrshire.
This is a strange memorial, as it looks like it used to be on the side of a building. It's almost in the middle of nowhere.

I notice that it is spelt Auchentiber on the OS map (only one 'b').
The Boyle is probably this man
Name: BOYLE
Initials: H
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: Black Watch (Royal Highlanders)
Unit Text: 9th Bn.
Date of Death: 25/09/1915
Service No: S/4905
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: III. G. 33.
Cemetery: PHILOSOPHE BRITISH CEMETERY, MAZINGARBE
first name Hugh born in Glasgow, no age available, nothing of any help on MIC,
The only other Hugh Boyle in the Black Watch listed on CWGC was age 34, born in Forfarshire and lived with his wife in Dundee.
but can anyone positively link this man with Auchentiber or the parish of Kilwinning? Newspaper article to confirm date of death for instance?

The memorial is in Auchentibber, Blantyre Parish, Lanarkshire (South Lanarkshire nowadays). Click on the link in my post above to see its location. Auchentiber, Kilwinning Parish, Ayrshire is a separate place.

that did the trick, found him on Ancestry in Auchentibber 1901 age 5 so this is definitely the man (and not the 34 year old)

This is a strange design. Given the plaque is marble do you think this was originally erected in a church or public building which has now been demolished?
