Not listed on UKNIWM.

The roll is inside Annan Old Parish Church at OS Map Ref: NY 196 666

There are 291 names on this in quite small print and I couldn't get photos without reflection on some part. Therefore I have posted quite a few (some slightly out of focus - sorry) and I hope that between them, all the names are readable.

This is WMR report 71537.

Thanks to the assistance of Ken Morrison there is a photograph of the full Roll of Honour on that report, taken on a day when the sunshine and internal lighting was not causing problems with reflections.

Also Ken has provided a transcript of Column 1 which was causing the most problems on the above photographs-

Toward the bottom of Column 4 there is:

Mrs Lilian M Wilson and Sergeant Daniel R Wilson, who both served in the A.P.D.

Can anyone enlighten me what the APD is, that is a new set of initials on me, especially for a women's (and men's, mixed) service in WW1.

I am sort of wondering if it's some kind of Acronym for HM Factory, Gretna ("Devils Porridge"), but am maybe overthinking this puzzle

There is a fair chance that this was the Army Pay Department. Strictly speaking it should have been Army Pay Corps by WW1 but the old term was still in use. The pay offices employed serving soldiers (usually Sergeants), civil servants and female volunteers. https://www.westernfrontassociation.com/articles/here-come-the-girls-the-women-volunteers-at-the-army-pay-office-woolwich-from-august-to-october-1914/ gives further information. Women in the factory were generally known as workers (wkr) and I don't think there were many servicemen employed there.
