This memorial is inside Waterbeck Parish Church at OS Map Ref: NY 248 777.

Not listed on UKNIWM.

Maybe I have led a sheltered life, but this is the first Roll of Honour that I have seen as a brass plaque. All those I have seen previously have been paper or parchment.

I notice also that there are 4 female names on here (all survived).

The memorial contains a total of 72 names of which the following died (from the Waterbeck WW1 memorial) so the remaining 58 survived.

Lt Thomas Johnstone Carlyle 2nd KOSB Passchendaeles Oct 1917
2Lt Robert Carlyle 5th KOSB Gallipoli 12th July 1915
2Lt James M Kerr
Cpl Richard Common MM
LCpl Archibald Armstrong
LCpl James Graham
LCpl Thomas Morrin
Pte George Bell
Pte William Chalmers
Pte John Davidson
Tpr Walter Graham
Pte David Patterson
Pte Samuel C Rogerson
Pte James W Ward

A difficult to photograph reflective brass plaque, so a couple of photos for you to take your pick.

In Dornoch Cathedral the United Free Church's Roll of Honour is on two brass plaques. They now sit side by side in the vestibule but I take it they originally sat either side of something in their own church.

The Cathedral's own RoH is on framed parchment inside the building.
