By the side of the N365 road between Wytschaete and Messines in Flanders.
The memorial was unveiled in May 1923 by Earl Haig and the Belgian King.
On the base of the memorial is the inscription:
'Near this spot on Halloween 1914 the London Scottish came into action, being the first Territorial battalion to engage the enemy'.
In that first enagement the battalion lost nearly 400 men, the memorial being situated on the spot they valiantly held agains repeated German attacks before finally being withdrawn with heavy losses.
