I think all the names on this memorial are clear except the top two on the fourth face. These are:

The surname Bruce appears four times on the Lauder War Memorial - they were all brothers.

This is a picture of Andrew Bruce 1881-1918.
He left behind a wife and 5 wee children. He was a carpenter and also a clerk.

This is his brother, William Bruce 1895-1976.
He was the only son to survive the Great War.

FOUR brothers Sad . Unless I'm mistaken thats the most I can recall since the site has been running. There have been quite a few three-fold.

The photos are excellent - to me it's like gold dust finding these.

What is interesting is that whilst playing with the SDGW cd earlier I happened upon another Bruce having a Lauder connection who died.
I wonder if this was a relative? And I wonder why his name is not commemorated on the Lauder Memorial?
