(Post edited by Spoons to move Castle Primary school plaques to their own threads). The one below belongs to the now defunct Bank School. The memorial sits in a small garden beside the school house 1 mile west of the village on the B 741 to Dalmellington. It is at NS 599125.

This memorial was erected in front of Bank School, unveiled on 20/8/1923.
It is of grey Scotch Grantie and weights nearly 2 ton. A piece of Celtic ornamentation is carved on the front. Designed and erected by Beattie & Co., Carlisle.
