The memorial to the men of Harthill for the First and Second World Wars is located within St Andres Church, Old Eastfield Street, Harthill.

SECOND WORLD WAR
Pte. WILLIAM J. CLARK, K.O.S.B.
Named on the Kingholm Quay War Memorial in Dumfries as:
PTE WILLIAM J. CLARK 1 BN KOSB, HOLLAND 22/10/1944.
William John Clark – age 28 – Private (3193825) 1st Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers.
Born 1916 in Dumfries. Son of John Clark and Hannah Irvine (Jardine) Clark of Kingholm Quay, Dumfries. Husband of Mae or Mary Elliot (McLaughaln) Clark of Eastfield, Harthill, Lanarkshire who he married in 1941 in Shotts, Lanarkshire.
Missing in Action on 22 October 1944 and named on the Groesbeek Memorial, Netherlands.
The 1st KOSB returned to France on D-Day, 6th June, landing at ‘Queen’ Beach. They fought through Normandy and then advanced north through Belgium and Holland to the Rhine. _________________ Ken |

there is a new out door memorial at the large layby in the village
A memorial stone and three plaques on a wall I have photos but am unsure how to post them |

That's a nice looking memorial. Napoleon Nisbett caught my eye. It turns out that his unit is unusual, too.
