North Knapdale - Argyll & Bute, Mid Argyll
Location: Junction of B8025 Tayvallich Road and unclassified road to Kilmory
UKNIM Ref no. 9459
OS map ref: NR 790 910
Google Maps Street View

The North Knapdale memorial is a grey granit celtic cross with wheel-head and bosses.
This is one of my favourites and is an exceptionally fine piece of craftsmanship. Its a copy of the famous Kildalton cross on Islay and its one of those memorials that just suddenly appear in front of you (seemingly in the middle of nowhere) as your driving on the road from Lochgilphead and the Crinan Canal towards Tayvallich on Loch Sween.

The OS Map Ref. for this one is wrong... it should be NR790910! As you say tho, it is

(Glasgow Herald 16th of June 1922)
"The North Knapdale memorial, which is a replica of the Kildalton cross, Islay, was unveiled by Lieut- Colonel Duncan Campbell, of Ross, on Saturday afternoon.
The memorial occupies a prominent position at the junction of the roads leading to Achnamara and Tayvallich. There was a large gathering representing the surrounding district."
